... the pain of having to listen to WBRK. You know, "Today's hits and yesterday's favorites."
The circulation of playlists have not changed in three years, I kid you not.
So intead of tearing out my hair at work where they only play this radio station, I thought of a lovely blog post. These heavily rotated tunes have inspired me to compile an ultimate list of the greatest and the worst of love songs.
Excuse the plethora of youtube videos, but if I post songs, google will take me down.
1. The "Grow Some A Pair, Please" Love Song
Look Away- Chicago
Really? You don't have to tell a girl to look away when you are walking along the street and crying - she'll look away, trust me.
2. The "Deal Maker" Love Song
Danny's Song - Kenny Loggins
Embedded link disabled, wtf?
It's just really adorable. He loves her, the end.
3. The "Deal Breaker" Love Song
Every Breath You Take - Police
Clearly he's stalking her. Restraining orders always end in heartaches.
4. The "Let's Sing Along" Love Song
To Be With You - Mr. Big
So maybe this one should have been 'You've Got that Loving Feeling' but that's just by Top Gun's standards. Pay attention to the gang vocals... total sing along requirement. Also, my friends and I once went to a really small Tally Hall show and we all sang this together... magical.
5. The "What the Hell are You Talking About" Love Song
Heart of Glass - Blondie
She's confused about love, we're confused about her lyrics. "Mucho distrust?" Don't understand the use of Spanglish, but still a great tune.
6. The "We're in This for Real" Love Song
Let's Stay Together- Al Green
Actually one of my personal favorites. Part of a marriage vow is acutally part of the chorus. Now that's committment.
7. The "We Just Got Back Together and Rekindled Our Love" Love Song
Still The One- Shania Twain
Oh what the word "still" implies. It's like hey, I tried other dudes, but guess what? YOU'RE STILL THE ONE! Good for you, Glen Cocoa.
8. The "I'm Only Playing This To Sleep With You Tonight" Love Song
I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner
I think this one is self-explanatory.
9. The "We're Making Love on a Mountain Top Right Now" Love Song
We Belong- Pat Benatar
Please enjoy this video of orcas I found that plays this song in the background. Love is no Battlefield, hooray!
10. The "Help Me" Love Song
Somebody to Love - Queen
All of a sudden, the usually perky harmonies of Queen sound so sad. But Freddie Mercury did find Mary Austin... and gay bathhouses... hope for us all!
11. The "Forgive and Forget" Love Song
It's All Coming Back - Celine Dion
Oh the little lyric change in the last line says it all. Bad case of nostalgic love.
12. The "Any-th Anniversary" Love Song
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You? - Rod Stewart
Sweet, sincere, appropriate for the guests.
WELL, I need a life, clearly.
